Cat Attack!

We are starting to settle in to our new lives here on Shun.  After a week of sleeping in the new house we've not had any ghosts...which is always great!  No major catastrophes.  No, OMG WHY DID WE BUY THIS HOUSE moments.  With that said, our poor kittens haven't adjusted quite as well as we had hoped they would.

We adopted Millie and Hurley just over two years ago after loosing my childhood baby, Ginger.  I'd had Ginger for just shy of 16 years, and with her old age she pretty much ate and slept.  Kittens are very different!  It was quite the adjustment to get use to running, playing, jumping, etc.  But, we love our fur babies.

When we bought the house, I knew the transition would be hard for our kittens.  They HATE leaving the apartment and had only done so a whopping three times in the 2 years that we've had them.  So, on moving day we tried to make the transition smooth.  (And by smooth I mean locking Millie in the bathroom after Hurley freaked out and jumped behind our dryer causing the move to halt for 3o minutes while we tried to get him out!)  After we got them to the house both cats ran and hid in our walk-in closet for the rest of the day.

But, that is not what I wanted to tell you about.  I wanted to tell you about 3:30 a.m. which is the time Hurley decides is safe to come out from under the bed and "explore" the new house.  For the last three nights Hurley has chosen this beautiful time to do his exploring.  The first night he was trying to "escape" out our bedroom window by pawing the glass to death.  Just so you know, this makes a TON of noise which wakes his masters from their beautiful sleep.  The next night Hurley decided to jump on top of the head board and try to climb in the cute little rectangle window that is above our bed.  Mind you, the cat isn't small and him being up there can only mean one thing...he's going to land on my face when he falls.  Which he did.  Last night he did a combo of the two.  Back and forth, back and forth, between the window on the floor and the window above the bed.

So, what does he see out these windows?  As my husband pointed out, is he trying to get back to the apartment?  Maybe I judged the whole ghost thing too soon?  I don't know, but whatever it is I hope these cat attacks stop beacuse momma needs her sleep!

  1. Cats take change worse than people sometimes! I hope they settle in soon and start feeling like they are home.
